Saalex Internship Opportunities

The Saalex Corporation Internship Placement Program (SCIPP) aims to provide students with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting and gain practical field experience while still in school, which they can utilize in a variety of employment settings. About the Program

Saalex will provide participating schools with a description of qualifications for internship opportunities, and a link for potential student interns to apply online. Interviews will generally be conducted twice a year (though may be held at any time) with the aim of selecting up to five student interns per semester, depending on available opportunities. Saalex may opt to consider student interns for a summer term may also be considered, depending on Saalex’s opportunity / availability for intern-related work.

The standard internship term will generally be three months in duration but may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause/notice. Saalex does not guarantee that a position of employment will be available or offered beyond the internship.

In general, students from the following courses/majors will be considered (although we may accept students from other disciplines as the availability for intern-related work arises):

   • Computer Science                  • Digital Marketing                                 • Math related

   • Cyber related                          • Electronics/Electrical                          • Mechatronics

   • Data Analytics                         • Information Technology (IT)               • Technical Writing

Current major recruitment areas include data and systems-based roles, a variety of technicians, engineers and managers, primarily to work on three major programs with the Navy at Naval Base Ventura County and China Lake, in IT, weapons development and range test and support.

Saalex team members will guide students as they perform their internship duties, and provide at least two feedback evaluations: one mid-term, and one prior to term conclusion.


Student Applicant Qualifications and Responsibilities

  • Students will be identified by Faculty for excellence according to the following criteria:
    • Must have a B grade or better in class
    • Must demonstrate professional communication
    • Should be enrolled in one of the abovementioned courses/majors
  • Must have a clean background in order to pass security clearance investigation
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Students will be required to continue their education at the school
